So good! I struggled so much (for years) with my last book, which is also a memoir about enduring trauma. I wrote several posts about the struggle of writing it rather than writing in the book. ;) You are asking the right questions though, and the wrestle will bring great fruit.
Apparently you have begun. It might sound jumbled being a little from here and a little from there right now, but it’s going down on paper and the puzzle will eventually come together & all of us will celebrate you fitting the last piece to the puzzle. While you’re out & about, you can always record or message yourself on your phone so you can put those words on paper when you get to the computer. Keep at it Karen, it will all come together, baby steps.🥰 I thought the stone looked like a heart too 🧡
I have no words, pun intended to describe how encouraging that was to me. I, too, write in a "journal" everyday, like you started out. I love to write but never give myself permission to enjoy that. Why? I, too, have much pain with deep family problems and I think I'm afraid to see it on paper. I'll break down and I can't afford to not hold it all together.

How did I miss your book?? I’m going to look for it!
I dunno, I wouldn't shut up about it last fall! 😂 It's right here: https://copperlightwood.com/risk-the-ocean
I love your rock (It IS exactly like a heart)! Good luck with the creative process. It sounds like a healing process as well (hugs).

Keep writing, your story is worth reading.
And it isn't finished.
