We are currently not freezing like we thought we would in Colorado in late October, and very happy about it. That may change by the end of the week when the forecast says it will be 14 degrees overnight, but for now we have windows and doors open and we are enjoying something other than mud.
Add two grandbabies (and their parents) plus good friends and you have a recipe for a much-needed break from reality. Sometimes your mental health calls for a complete change of location, and this is the best one I can imagine.
This is what we left behind:
Then we were here (because the best vacations always include a work project and Ben was not going to be happy until he hauled a few packs of shingles up to the roof)
Then we drove here because grandbabies
who live a block from this amazing park with a view of Pike’s Peak
and the greatest little creek to rock-hop across and throw stones in.
Grands are the best.
Also, Ute Valley Park is rugged and harsh and so beautiful.
And perfect for exploring.
Currently researching property here …
It looks really beautiful out there. Brings back a lot of great memories. The photographs also bring to mind a couple of songs!
First is John Denver's "Rocky Mountain High"
Second is a song that goes "Don't jump off of the roof dad, you'll make a dent in the yard!"
