Today I am taking a pass. A mental health day. A day off. PTO without the P.
This is a stuffed bunny made by my Great-Aunt Mabel, sitting on a down comforter made by my Great-Auntie Anne, with down feathers she plucked off the geese her husband shot and brought home. My parents’ house is a museum of meaningful artifacts produced y my ancestors. It’s a fascinating place to spend a few nights.
Life is just a tad overwhelming right now, so I am scaling back where I can. That’s precisely the reason I stopped at a roadside stand the other day and bought half a bushel of apples to make applesauce with. It makes perfect sense if you are me. Call it an escape to the kitchen.
My daddy has been in the hospital and my husband was away and one dear woman has been taking care of the cows and Hank so I could go take care of my mother. Then I raced home to have two appointments today, one tomorrow, a car repair Wednesday, and a trip to Richmond Thursday. Then back to Northern Virginia this weekend. All the running around makes me feel like I’m 20 again but with 42 extra years of wear and tear. It has left my brain spinning but with very little substance.
But just so we all have something worthwhile to chew on today, let me share this seasonal reminder:
If your team does not win the game, they lose.
L O S E.
If you eat less food and drop a few pounds, your clothes may become loose.
L O O S E.
Rhymes with moose. And goose.
A team will never loose a game and you will never loose your keys.
Thank you for coming to my TED talk. Bless you for paying any attention at all to my measly 234 words.
Love it!
Prayers for your dad.
